When does my eSIM data plan start?

That's correct! The eSIM data plan will only begin once you activate it, not when you purchase or install it. After scanning the QR code and downloading the eSIM profile, you'll need to complete the activation process (like enabling data roaming). This is when the eSIM plan will start its countdown.

It's best to activate the eSIM close to the start of your trip—ideally, a day before departure or on the same day. That way, you avoid wasting days of data usage and get full value from your plan.

And as for buying the eSIM, you can do so in advance, but make sure to activate it when you're actually ready to use it, ideally within your travel window. If you're traveling to a destination like Thailand and buy a 10-day eSIM plan, it’s important to activate it on the first day of your trip (e.g., 1st May) to get the full 10-day coverage.

By activating the eSIM on the day you need it, you can ensure that you're always connected when needed without wasting any part of your data plan.
