Does iPad mini series support eSIM?

You're correct! The iPad Wi-Fi series, including models like the iPad mini 2, iPad mini 3, iPad mini 4, and iPad mini Wi-Fi + Cellular, do not support eSIM. These models are designed to work with traditional SIM cards only.

eSIM is a newer technology that allows devices to connect to mobile networks without needing a physical SIM card, but it's supported only in iPads with 4G LTE connectivity starting from the 2018 iPad Pro models (both the 11-inch and 12.9-inch versions).

If you want to use eSIM with your iPad, you'll need to upgrade to a model that supports it, starting with iPad Pro (2018 and later) or the newer iPad Air 2020 and later models.

Note: eSIM functionality is only available on iPads that have 4G LTE support. Make sure to check if your device has the necessary connectivity for eSIM usage.

For further information, you can always check out the list of eSIM-compatible iPads or visit your carrier for more details on compatibility.
